Tamara Watson, the development and communications manager for the Community Home Trust, helped organize several volunteers to help beautify a local community.
The homes are all part of more than 160 houses, condos and apartments in the Community Home Trust spread throughout Chapel Hill and Carrboro.
The Home Trust offers first-time home buyers who make less than 80% of the median income to find affordable housing in the area. Firefighters, teachers and university employees are just some examples of the kinds of people who benefit from the Home Trust.
Watson says Friday’s Community Day beautification efforts help the overall effort of inclusionary housing.
The Home Trust, along with some UNC students and the residents planted different kinds of flowers in front of the homes throughout the day.
Mary Bratch, the Home Trust Board President, was in attendance. She bought her home in Pacifica in Carrboro with the help of the Home Trust.
