UNC philosophy scholar Susan Wolf has been named the 2010 Romanell-Phi Beta Kappa Professor by the Phi Beta Kappa Society.

That means she will give three lectures to her peers starting today.

The national award is given to one scholar in philosophy each year. For her three lectures, Wolf has chosen the subject of love. Her first discussion will be held later today at 4 o’clock at Hyde Hall, across the street from the Franklin Street Post Office.

The series starts with a discussion on the basic topics of love, such as “What is it?” and “Why is it especially important?”

The second part, coming up tomorrow, will focus on the conflict between love and morality.

Wolf is the first UNC faculty member to receive the Phi Beta Kappa professorship.
