Two other Tar Heel sports teams were in action Thursday.

The North Carolina wrestling team won eight of its ten matches en route to a 34-12 victory over N.C. State. The Heels earned two pins, a technical fall and two major decisions in their five decisive victories. A technical fall occurs once a wrestler goes up 15 points over his opponent and a major decision is awarded to a wrestler who is up by 8 or more points when time expires.

Dennis Drury recorded his 7th pin of the season, which leads the team.  10th-ranked Thomas Scotton got back on the right track with a 15-0 victory to emphatically end his string of three consecutive losses.

Carolina improved to 2-3 in the ACC, with its other conference win coming over Duke.

The Tar Heels will travel to Edinboro, PA for their next dual meet on Friday the 12th.
