Foot Injury Keeps Ginyard Out of Albany Game

When UNC takes on Albany tonight at the Dean Smith Center, they’ll be without senior guard Marcus Ginyard once again, as his right foot injury still won’t allow him to play.

UNC Director of Athletic Communications Steve Kirschner said being held out was a blow for Ginyard.

Ginyard’s current injury is a bruise to his right foot.  He missed most of last season after sustaining a stress fracture in his left foot which required surgery.  Ginyard already missed a game this season against Presbyterian College because of an unrelated injury to the same foot.

Ginyard has elevated his game this season, averaging 11 points per game, third-best on the Tar Heels.  After Monday’s victory against Rutgers, teammate Deon Thompson said Ginyard was doing his best to cope with being out.

The Heels will face the Great Danes of Albany tonight at 7, and you can catch all the action right here on WCHL starting at 5:30 p.m. with Countdown to Tip-Off.
