Many locals already knew that Carrboro had something special in housing the Jesse Kalisher Gallery. Now Target shoppers across the country will get to experience a bit of Kalisher too.

Kalisher’s gallery may be located on Main Street, but he’s known for photographing the world’s most famous landmarks. The six prints that Target has chosen are his photographs of the Golden Gate Bridge, The Eiffel Tower to just name a few.

Kalisher says he doesn’t know of any other artist who has entered into this kind of agreement with a big box retailer. Although he says creating art for the masses is a not a unique philosophy.

Kalisher says he’s been working on the deal since early this year, and now the is work is available at every Target store nationwide.

The photographs are framed, 8x10 pictures and retail for $9.99.
