Chapel Hill Police spokesman Kevin Gunter says a robbery occurred just before 8 p.m. on Christmas Eve at the Wachovia on South Estes Drive.

The suspect is described as 5 foot, 8 inches, wearing gloves and dark clothing. The victim told police her assailant fled on food towards University Mall with an undisclosed amount of money.

Gunter says the Great Clips at 1814 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard is the latest victim in a string of break-ins at local businesses. 

An attempted break-in over the weekend at Salutations at Meadowmont Circle was not successful, though police say it appeared someone had tried to tamper with the door. Gunter says this is the second time in a month Salutations has been targeted.
