An ad for the Claremont neighborhood, which incorrectly identifies it as being a part of Chapel Hill only, has resurfaced in the Chapel Hill News.

Carrboro Alderwoman Lydia Lavelle dislikes the implication that Claremont isn’t part of Carrboro.

The ad originally ran in the News in September, and Lavelle called it “misleading” at the time.  She spoke to Claremont’s administration, who agreed to remove the ad from use.  But the ad ran again this December.

Carrboro was strongly involved in the planning for Claremont, and so the omission could be perceived as a slight.  But Lavelle says there are other reasons why leaving Carrboro out of the ad is harmful.

Lavelle spoke to Claremont staff who told her they did not request to run the ad.  She speculates that it may have been an oversight by the newspaper.
