Members of the Carolina Hurricanes hockey team will visit patients at North Carolina Children’s Hospital Monday.

Hospital Communications Manager Danielle Bates says the visit is designed to brighten the day of as many kids as possible.

The Hurricanes have been regularly visiting patients at the hospital for a few years, an arrangement Bates says is unmatched by any other team in the Triangle.  The players are often not revealed until the day of the event, but previous attendees have included star forward Eric Staal and goalie Cam Ward.

Bates says the players often appear humbled by the experience of visiting sick children.  She also says it lights up the world for kids having a tough time.

The players will sign autographs, deliver team paraphernalia, and take pictures with patients and their families.
