Two months into the NBA season the impact of former Tar Heels now playing in the professional world of basketball can now be felt from coast to coast.

Just south of Chapel Hill in Charlotte, Bobcats 4th year point guard Raymond Felton is averaging just over 10 points a game and 5 assist.  The Bobcats are coached by former Tar Heel Larry Brown and are currently on a 5-game winning streak.  Further south in Atlanta, forward Marvin Williams is also averaging just over 10 points a game as he and his Hawks currently sit in second in the eastern conference’s southeast division.

The class of 2009 is also proving to be effective among the pros.  Out in Denver, Colorado 1st year point guard Ty Lawson is proving to be a key reserve for the Nuggets.  The Clinton, Maryland native is averaging 8 points a game and 3 assist as the Nuggets sit in third place in the Western Conference.  Tyler Hansbrough has fully recovered from the shin injury that lingered during his senior season in Chapel Hill and is coming off the bench to average 7 points a game.  Hansbrough also reached his career high with 10 points on November 24th versus the Toronto Raptors.  For the Minnesota Timberwolves Wayne Ellington is progressing well as the Pennsylvania native is averaging 4 points a game and is shooting 222-percent from three point land.

Be on the look-out for your favorite former Tar Heel all season long as the season progresses.
