Frank Clifton, the manager of Orange County, announced the selection of Clarence Grier as the new Finance Director for Orange County effective December 14, 2009.

Michael McGinnis, Human Resources Director for Orange County, says as Finance Director, Grier will be in charge of all finance and budget functions.

Grier graduated from Campbell University with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Major in Accounting.  He also is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in both North Carolina and Virginia.  Grier comes to Orange County from Greensboro where he served as Director of Finance and Information Services for the Greensboro Housing Authority.  His other experience includes serving as the Accounting Manager for City of High Point and Accounting Services Manager for the Town of Chapel Hill.

McGinnis says with the downturn in our economy, the budget session for the upcoming year will be especially difficult.  But Grier is expected to work very well with other department directors.
 
Grier will be replacing Gary Humphreys, who retires at the end of December.
