Seven of the town’s affordable housing units got some much needed sprucing up, at a cost that was below expectations.

At a meeting this week, council woman Sally Greene told her peers that the recently completed repairs to the town’s stock of affordable housing were badly needed.

The council partnered with the Community Home Trust to oversee repairs. Seven homes required significant refurbishment, including new roofs, siding, HVAC systems and hot water heaters.

In a report to the council, Executive Director of the Home Trust Robert Dowling said that the project finished on time and $40,000 under budget. He credits the hiring of local contractors who were willing to take on low-bid projects.

Greene said this project has been a success for all involved.
