Chapel Hill Mayor Kevin Foy has announced he will vote for Town Council candidates Laurin Easthom and Penny Rich. In the school board race, he says he will vote for Joe Green.
Foy made the announcement first via Twitter Monday evening before releasing a statement.
Foy says after working with Easthom for the past four years, he knows her to be smart, thoughtful and hardworking. He says, “Laurin is skeptical when she needs to be, but she finds a way to solve problems and build consensus for solutions when the time is right.”
Foy’s statement also acknowledged Town Council candidate Penny Rich’s service on the OWASA Board of Directors. He calls Rich a creative thinker who is willing to seize the initiative and make things happen. He says Rich will be an excellent councilmember.
Foy says he knows Joe Green from when he sought to fill the council seat left vacant by Bill Thorpe. Foy says with Green’s experience and training, he will help guide the school system.
