The Orange County Department of Social Services will be taking applications next week for the low-income energy assistance program.

Kathy Hill, coordinator for the energy assistance program at DSS, says this program meets a critical need for many families in Orange County.

Orange County residents can stop by either the Hillsborough Offices on West Tryon Street, or the Chapel Hill location on Homestead Road to submit an application.  Applications will be accepted staring next Monday through November 13th.

Eligibility to receive energy assistance will be based on income and household size.  Once selections are made, a one-time check will be issued on the 1st of February to reduce the overall cost of energy through the winter season.

Hill says the Orange County DSS is encouraging everyone who may be in need of assistance to apply.

You can also submit your application by phone at 245-2825.
