Tar Heel Legend Resurfaces
10/22/09 10:40AM

Sources close to the Carolina football program have confirmed that Tar Heel legend Lawrence Taylor was in town last night and spent some time meeting and speaking to the team.  Taylor will also be recognized during tonight’s game against Florida State.

Taylor set numerous records while playing at Carolina from 1977 to 1980.  During his final season in Chapel Hill, he recorded 16 sacks and was named ACC Player of the Year and All-American.

In the NFL, Taylor was a ten-time Pro Bowler and two-time MVP before retiring in 1993.  Many sportswriters still consider him the greatest defensive player in the history of the game.

Taylor has been largely estranged from the Carolina program since his college career ended nearly 30 years ago, making his appearance at tonight’s game especially significant.
