An otherwise quiet weekend in Chapel Hill was marred by a bomb threat at a local restaurant, and an armed robbery in a residential neighborhood off Weaver Dairy Road Extension.

Friday afternoon, employees at the Burger King on South Elliot Road received a call from an unidentified man who threatened to “blow up the place”. Police cleared the building and searched the premises, but did not find anything unusual.

Saturday night, a woman told police she was returning to her house on Palafox Drive when she was confronted by a man with a knife. The man grabbed her purse and fled in an unidentified car. The purse contained $1,000 dollars in cash, a wallet worth $200, and numerous credit cards. The purse itself was valued at $350. Police are still investigating the incident.
