This week, the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center announced that June’s ConAgra Foods explosion has claimed a fourth person.

55-year old Curtis Ray Poppe died last week at the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill, five months after surviving the explosion that tore the building’s roof off and threw works off their feet.

Poppe was a contractor that was hired to install a water heater at the Slim Jim plant.

The Chemical Safety Board concluded that contractors installing a water heater likely contributed to the June 9th explosion. The investigation found that during the installation, natural gas vented inside the building as a gas line was cleared.

Three people were found dead and 40 people were transported to area hospitals.

Last week, the Garner plant laid off at least 300 employees.
