Heelraiser Looks To Get To Detroit
03/30/09 11:35PM

The Heelraiser is looking for a way to get to Detroit to see the Carolina men play in the Final Four.

John Snipes, owner and driver of the ’74 Cadillac Hearse, needs a sponsor to buy tickets and gas to get him to the motor city.

And he said the car is a good luck charm.

Snipes said he’ll sleep in the rear compartment, just like he did when he took the Heelraiser to St. Louis.  He hasn’t taken the Heelraiser to a final four since 2005, so it might be a good luck charm. He also added that if anyone wants to make the trip with him, they are more than welcome to come.

Snipes has had the Heelraiser since 2004, when he bought it for $1,000. And the Heelraiser has several bells and whistles. It has a train horn, a horn that plays the Carolina fight song, a smoke machine and a rear compartment filled with Carolina gear.

He’s taken the hearse to all the UNC football games and any UNC basketball game he can get tickets to.

In 2005 he went to St. Louis, sleeping in the back of the car. Snipes said the Heelraiser gets nine or ten miles per gallon, making the total cast costs about $320 round trip.

And Snipes said he hopes to do another National Championship victory lap, just as he did in St. Louis.

Contact WCHL or visit www.heelraiser.com to contact Snipes if you think you can help get the Heelraiser to the games.
