UNC’s Chancellor Holden Thorp wants to make something clear. 

When it’s completed, the future Carolina North campus will resemble a small Carolina campus and not an industrial park.

Thorp said the campus-feel of Carolina North probably hasn’t been publicized enough, but that’s something he hopes to change during his administration.

Once completed, the campus will contain research buildings, but it is also the planned home for the future law school and residential buildings. The idea is to build the area into a bustling and lively area.

But there will be some limits on what’s built on the new campus.

Chancellor Thorp made his comments during part two of a special four-part interview with WCHL’s Jim Heavner. Part two can be heard Tuesday morning at 8:35 and Tuesday afternoon at 5:35.
