Plenty Of Details To Iron Out On Carolina North
05/27/08 07:24AM

Approval has been given to demolish some vacant buildings to make way for the eventual construction of Carolina North’s first building, the Innovation Center.

Nonetheless, Executive Director Jack Evans said the University and the town still have a lot of details to iron out.

Town staff members and University representatives have collaborated to formulate that approach, establishing specific guidelines for town-gown relations as Carolina North moves forward.

Evans said that when considering fiscal impact, it’s important to not assume anything when it comes to how Chapel Hill and UNC will work together, especially in safety matters.

Similarly,  Evans said  that since the Chapel Hill Fire Department services the main campus, it’s also expected that it will service Carolina North as well.

According to Evans, the official town-gown approach with a proposal for adoption will be presented by the Town Manager to the Town Council at its meeting on June 25th.
