Chapel Hill Gets Ready For Earth Action Day
03/11/10 03:23PM

The annual Earth Action Day will include important messages on maintaining sustainable living.

But Wes Tilghman says that includes how we shop as well as how we live.

For the first time, Earth Action Day will take place at Southern Community Park next to Southern Village on April 10th from 12 p.m. to five p.m. The event will include live performances from Paperhand Puppet Intervention, the Youth Performing Arts Conservatory and spoken word by the Sacrificial Poets.

Food from local restaurants will be available in a shaded area in front of the main stage. Plus, the town’s Stormwater Management Division is sponsoring rain barrels at discount prices.

Tilghman says it’s an effort by the division’s Wendy Smith to make the barrels more affordable.

Earth Action Day also features a chance for you to clean out your closet through Swap O’ Rama Rama, a clothing swap hosted by the Scrap Exchange. For more information, go to www.chapelhillparks.org.
