Christian Lander draws inspiration for his Web site from the way his parents raised him.

The site “Stuff White People Like” has taken off since its birth in January 2008.  The site was averaging more than 300,000 hits a day less than a year after Lander founded it, and reportedly earned him a six-figure advance on a best-selling book for publisher Random House.

Lander has now published more than 130 posts on “Stuff White People Like,” and says there’s no shortage of material coming down the pike.  He says his next post is one that will be familiar to Chapel Hill and Carrboro residents.

Lander will appear with comedian Elon James White in the Great Hall of the UNC Student Union Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
