Judge Threatens Andrew Young With Jail Time

By WCHL News

A Pittsboro judge has warned former aide to John Edwards, turned tell-all author, Andrew Young and wife Cheri that jail time could be in the couple’s future if requested materials are not handed in.

On Monday, in a written summons, North Carolina Superior Court Judge Abraham Penn Jones warned the duo, “Your failure to personally appear and your failure to fully comply with this order will be grounds for civil or criminal contempt for those failures."

Andrew and Cheri Young’s scheduled court appearance on Monday was cancelled due to weather. However, Andrew Young was in New York City promoting his book on John Edwards, “The Politician.” During that time, he also granted WCHL an exclusive. You can listen to that interview via our Web site 1360wchl.com.

Andrew Young’s trip to the Big Apple didn’t escape Judge Jones who acknowledged in the order that Young left the state.  The Young’s allegedly possess a videotape of the former Senator and would-be president having sex with his then mistress Rielle Hunter. Hunter has taken out a temporary restraining order against the couple that prevents them from distributing, promoting and/or capitalizing on the video. The order also says that the Youngs hold photographs of Hunter and Edwards’ daughter.

The couple has the option to turn the items over to the Orange County Sheriff’s office, an option that Andrew Young declined last week, thus prompting the order to appear in court.  Now, both Andrew and Cheri Young are ordered to appear before the judge at the Chatham County Courthouse this Friday with the items in tow. They’ve been asked to turn over a list of contacts and record of those who have received a copy of the videotape and/or the photographs.
