WCHL ReporterThe Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chamber of Commerce has been accepting nominations for the Business of the Year awards for the past month. CEO Aaron Nelson says several factors go into choosing the businesses.
This week the Chamber narrowed each category down to three finalists. DSI Comedy Theater, Herndon Construction and Community Home Trust are the finalists for the small business category.
Great Outdoor Provision Company, Tyler’s Taproom and the Orange County Skills Development Center are the mid-size nominees.
For large businesses, Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA, Piedmont Health Services and Top of the Hill Restaurant were nominated.
Businesses that are new or have new management in the past three years are eligible for the best business newcomer award. Chapel Hill Printing and Graphics, Great Harvest Break Company and a non-profit company called Table are the possible winners in that category.
There were 25 overall nominations this year. The winners will be announced at the Chamber’s annual meeting on January 28.
