Report: Mike Paulus Transferring to FCS School

Reports are emerging on the Internet that UNC third-string quarterback Mike Paulus will transfer to the College of William & Mary to play for the Tribe.

The UNC fan website Inside Carolina cited sources saying the 21-year-old will transfer.  The source also said that Paulus will be given a chance to start for the Tribe, as current quarterback R.J. Archer is a senior.

Because William & Mary is a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) school, Paulus would not have to sit out a year before returning to action.  The 6’5”, 215 lb. quarterback just completed his second season of NCAA eligibility after a starry career at Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, New York, where he won the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year award.

The Tribe is scheduled to play the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill on October 30, 2010.
