State Highway Patrol troopers found a dead body inside a vehicle down an embankment along Interstate 40.

Trooper Pamela Snipes Williams made the discovery Thursday afternoon. The body found in the front seat of the vehicle has been identified as 28-year-old Antonio Terrell Covington of Raleigh, who had been reported as missing. The car was found near the split between Interstates 40 and 85 near exit 259.

Earlier in the day, Williams noticed several road signs down along the area. Even though there were no skid marks around the scene, Williams says there were signs that however the car wound up near the ravine, it must have been there for quite some time.

There’s no word on whether foul play is suspected in Covington’s death.
