Hillsborough Parks May Go Smoke-Free

One of the agenda items for Monday’s Hillsborough Town Board meeting in Hillsborough is a possible smoking-ban in the city’s parks.

Margaret Hauth, Hillsborough’s planning director, says the bill could go into effect immediately.

The proposed smoking ban is as a response to complaints regarding cigarette smoke at several Hillsborough parks.

The Town Board is not required to call a public hearing regarding the ordinance, but will be up for discussion at the workshop this coming Monday.

An immediate ban is a possibility, though Hauth says there are no plans for enforcement of the ordinance.

The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. Monday at the Town Barn in Hillsborough.
